Philfest Cancelled

Due to unforeseen circumstances Philfest has been cancelled, which means we will not be running workshops at the festival. Firstly we would like to thank Philfest for inviting us to participate in the festival, it was something we were really looking forward to. We would also like to pass on our commiserations to Philfest, it is a wonderful idea, and we know it will happen next year.

We also would like to thank all the ROiAR team that put a lot of work into preparations for the workshops. And to everyone one that supported our FundIt campaign a huge thanks to you from all the ROiAR team. If you have donated to our FundIt campaign please be reassured that the donations you made will not be taken from your account. We really do appreciate the support that we have been receiving from all our wonderful followers and members.

Sunday Songs

This is our weekly instalment of inspiring Sunday Songs, and what a weekend it has been for music bringing people together. After World War 2 the Eurovision Song contest was started to bring unity to the continent of Europe. Since 1956 the competition has been held each year and celebrates the diversity and culture of the countries within Europe, with people being brought together with music.

Last night Austria's entry won the competition but it was more than just a win for the country, it was a win for the LGBT community also. Conchita Wurst who sang the Austrian song Rise Like A Phoenix has been at the centre of a media storm around the world. There has been some controversy in a handful of countries over the bearded drag queen performing, but the majority of Europe showed their support and made her this years winner.

I dream of a world where we don't have to talk about unnecessary things like sexuality, who you love. Last night Britain's got Talent also had a very special act. Bars and Melody are two young boys who wrote and sang an anti-bullying song, it really is quite heart-warming.

FundIt Campaign! Only Two Weeks left!

So there are only two weeks left of our FundIt Campaign! We really need your support to reach our target, and time is quickly ticking by. We are going to be running anti-racism Outreach Workshops at Philfest in Leitrim in June. For the workshops we need equipment such as a projector and that is why we are fundraising.
